EMERGENCY REQUEST FOR DECA JUDGE VOLUNTEERS
Kelso High School DECA is requesting emergency volunteers to judge the AREA 9 DECA conference this coming Monday, January 10th. Due to COVID we are desperately short on volunteers to run this event. Here are the details of the event. Please consider volunteering for this event to help our students be the best they can be and learn real world business skills.
Date: Monday, January, 10th
Time: 10AM-3:00PM
Location: Cowlitz County Event Center
Dress Code: Business Professional Dress with Mask
Meals: Lunch and drinks provided.
What: Local area high school students competing by applying their business and marketing knowledge from the classroom to real world business problems. There are no specific business skills or background necessary to volunteer. A rubric to grade their presentations and questions to ask the students are provided.
Please be a difference maker in our students' future and accept our invitation. They learn so much about themselves and how to interact with adults because of this real world experience. If you are able to volunteer please email megan.thomas@kelsosd.org with your name and phone number to add to our list of judges. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Megan Thomas & Benjamin Rood

Kelso High School Key club in partnership with Kiwanis and Kelso School District’s Family and Community Resource Center is collecting nonperishable food items during the boys and girls basketball games vs Mark Morris, Friday, December 3rd.
The donations collected will provide food boxes to local Kelso students and families facing food insecurities. These are not Holiday meal boxes but rather basic meals for everyday of their Winter Break and beyond. When in school, students are provided with at least one to two meals each day; however, during break, there are limited programs available. It is our goal to make sure the students in our community are still able to receive these meals over break.
Please join us in supporting the Family and Community Resource Center, a program developed to proactively provide for Kelso students and families facing food insecurities and homelessness. The Family and Community Resource Center is unique in that they work directly with Kelso families to coordinate their resources for students and families in need providing food, clothing, health and hygiene items, shelter, and more. Each year they assist as many as 300 students and their families.
Suggested food donations include: Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper, uncooked pasta, Knorr pasta mixes, spaghetti sauce, cereal, rice, Ramen, pancake mix, syrup, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, jelly, condiments such as mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, granola bars, crackers, chili, and soup mixes. (Please, no glass containers)
If you are unable to attend the game and would still like to donate, your contributions can be dropped off at the Kelso High School Main Office or ASB office through December 17th. If you or someone you know is struggling or in need, please reach out to Nancy Baldwin at 360.501.1993 or 360.751.8791 or visit the Family and Community Resource Center at 2001 Allen Street, Kelso, WA 98626.
