There are no confirmed cases in Cowlitz County at this time (3/2820).
The Kelso School District continues to monitor this evolving public health situation. We work side-by-side with Cowlitz County Health District and will follow their professional guidelines.

Prevention
There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:
As a reminder, to prevent the spread of any illness, if your child is sick, please keep them home from school. To help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including the coronavirus and flu, follow these important tips:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- Individuals with chronic health issues and/or individuals experiencing severe symptoms should be evaluated by a medical professional.
- Get vaccinated every year
We are reminding this team and our community to intentionally combat stigma. As new information emerges, it is important to remember and remind students that COVID-19 is not connected to race, ethnicity, or nationality. Stigma will not help to fight the illness; however sharing accurate information during a time of heightened concern is critical to keeping misinformation at bay.
The district is continuing its routine cleaning procedures and ensuring adequate soap, water and hand sanitizer are available for staff and student use. I understand that this issue is at the top of our minds and please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions.
